Healthcare professionals in Redwood City face a real problem: staying current on American Heart Association® training while managing demanding schedules. Nurses, physicians, and paramedics at nearby facilities like Kaiser Permanente Redwood City Medical Center (1100 Veterans Blvd), Stanford Medicine Outpatient Center (450 Broadway St), and Adventist Health Sequoia Hospital (170 Alameda de las Pulgas) need flexible training options that don’t require taking a full day off work.
Safety Training Seminars solves that problem. Located at 650 Broadway, Suite 4, Redwood City—just steps from the Stanford Medicine campus—the center offers Self-Guided Learning™ courses for BLS, ACLS, and PALS through CPR Verification Station™ learning centers, open Monday through Sunday from 8 AM to 10 PM.
Self-Guided Learning™ courses combine two components:
Learners complete both components independently. No instructor schedules. No fixed classroom times. Upon successful completion, learners receive an American Heart Association Course Completion eCard for BLS, ACLS, or PALS.
This approach differs from traditional blended learning, where an instructor must facilitate the in-person skills check. With Self-Guided Learning, the learner controls the entire process.
The online portion uses True Adaptive™ learning powered by Area9 Lyceum. The system evaluates your existing knowledge in real time and adjusts content to focus on your specific gaps.
If you already know adult CPR, the system spends less time there. If you need more practice on pediatric algorithms, it focuses there instead. Learners progress based on mastery, not time spent.
This personalized learning pathway works on desktop, tablet, or mobile—meaning a nurse at Kaiser Permanente Redwood City can complete the cognitive portion between shifts, from any device.
Typical completion times:
After completing the online learning activity, learners visit the CPR Verification Station learning center at 650 Broadway, Suite 4.
The station uses a Voice-Assisted Manikin (VAM) that provides real-time, objective performance feedback. The system measures compression depth, rate, recoil, ventilation volume, and timing—more precisely than a traditional instructor can observe.
Here is what the skills session delivers:
The skills session takes approximately 30 minutes for BLS, ACLS, and PALS. There is no instructor present. Learners work at their own pace and repeat skills as needed without pressure.
Samantha, a recent learner, put it clearly: “Very convenient experience! The VAM was super helpful and everything was easy to navigate. Great for people who have social anxiety as there is no one else on site so you can take your time and feel comfortable.”
Daryl Hendrickson added: “Best way to renew. Quick, informative, up to date. Appreciate the way the computer walks you through the hands-on portion and allows you to perfect your technique through immediate feedback.”
Self-Guided Learning courses work best for:
The Redwood City location’s extended hours—8 AM to 10 AM, seven days a week—make it accessible for professionals working evening and weekend shifts across the Bay Area.
The learner journey follows a straightforward path:
Upon passing both components, you receive your American Heart Association Course Completion eCard—valid for two years and accepted by hospitals, clinics, and employers across the Bay Area and nationwide.
Safety Training Seminars operates 75+ California locations, with the Redwood City office conveniently situated on Broadway between Sherwin Williams Paints and the adjacent auto repair shop, in the rear of the parking lot in Suite 4.

The live skills portion included a live instructor. You can ask questions anytime and it is a thorough and useful session. Very efficient use of time.Posted on SamanthaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Very convenient experience! The VAM was super helpful and everything was easy to navigate. Great for people who have social anxiety as there is no one else on site so you can take your time and feel comfortable having the space to yourself (unless someone happens to have booked a skills test at the same time as you but in that case there are also separate rooms so it would still be fine). Overall great experience, also love that it is a woman-owned business and you can take home a cute lil free CPR mask keychain! Also the assigned parking spots were right in front of the building/door which was super convenient as well!Posted on Alondra Gomez GarciaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
